“Healing Waters” because of the desire to help people find healing for themselves, our water, the Everglades, and Florida’s wild spaces. Healing is the ability to react to the damages within ourselves and around us, and respond in a manner to correct the present state of being. It is the search to find this balance, restore it, and extend it to everything around us. My hope with this gallery is that you find an image that serves as a Totem to inspire healing in your life, and perhaps extend that healing to the Everglades, and throughout Florida. May these images serve as a reminder of the natural beauty that is here now and that can still be saved for future generations.
JohnBob Carlos is a native Floridian and photographer who captures images of Florida’s wildlife, landscapes, cultures, and waterways. He uses his images to create a voice for Florida’s nature and to help preserve Florida’s culture. Exploring the depth of Florida’s natural terrain, he captures and documents the beauty of our landscapes in a compelling and visually stunning format.
In recent years he has become deeply concerned about the state of Florida’s nature and is alarmed at the devastation of areas he loves. Development, business interests, and politics continue to play a huge role in how Florida’s environment is managed, or mismanaged. Although his primary focus is photography, he continues to evolve due to his desire to defend Florida’s wildlife and stand up for nature through the use of his art and voice. JohnBob Carlos’ work has been used for petitions to stop big oil and fracking, to save the Pine Rocklands, to support clean water initiatives, and to oppose bike roads that destroy the fragile and unique Everglades. His photographs have been used to support conservation efforts, in campaigns to raise awareness, to raise money, and for events in South Florida that support wildlife.
